Gigi Anders was born in Havana to Cuban-born Jewish parents. The family emigrated to Washington, D.C. after the Revolution. Gigi graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in English and Art History, and began her writing career in The Washington Post’s Style section. Her more than 700 bylined articles range from a bi-weekly fashion column to covering President Bill Clinton while he jogged. A busy magazine freelance writer, Gigi has also contributed to Glamour, Allure, Mirabella, American Healthfor Women, USA Today’s USA Weekend, American Journalism Review, Hispanic,Latina and First for Women.

Her first book, a memoir of growing up Jewish and Cuban, is JUBANA!: The Awkwardly True and Dazzling Adventures of a Jewish Cubana Goddess (HarperCollins/Rayo, 2005). Inexplicably, the new soft cover version of JUBANA! is called Be Pretty, Get Married, And Always Drink TaB. I know. It’s bizarre. But I swear, it’s the same exact book, except it also features many ADORABLE Cuban baby pix and a fun Q&A. Oh, and all manner of very good blurbs. Can’t forget the blurbs.

Gigi’s latest oeuvre, also nonfiction, is about desire, elusive outfits and men, and the search for love, a sold-out little pink raincoat, and a discontinued Chanel red lipstick: Men May Come and Men May Go, but I’ve Still Got My Little Pink Raincoat: Life and Love In and Out of My Wardrobe (HarperCollins/Rayo, 2007).

Gigi Anders and her daughter Lilly “Sweet Pea” Anders, who is only technically a kitty cat, live in a Hackensack, New Jersey high-rise apartment overlooking Manhattan and the semi-bustling Teterboro Airport. Unlike Sweet Pea, who wears a fur coat at all times and doesn’t need men at all, Gigi is still looking for the best, most elusive outfit to capture the best, most elusive man..
